The politics of distraction

While there are definitely sinister undercurrentes to the whole thing, i think the biggest reason that this whole immigration debate has been whipped up to such a fever pitch is because the republican jackoffs who instigated it and dragged it to the forefront of media consciousness didn't have any convenient members of the Jackson family to scapegoat out as symptoms of America's ills and conveniently gloss over or skate past the consistent levels of failure and incompetence that the Bush assministration and the culturally corrupt republican majority in the House and Senate.
